December 2011
Dear Friends,
As the holiday season is quickly approaching I can’t help but stop and reflect on this past year. There are always areas in my life that I would like to improve; from goals I want to achieve to things I would like to acquire. I can quickly become frustrated or discouraged, especially when I start to compare my life to others. Let’s face it; according to the traditional American standard of living, my lifestyle doesn’t always measure up. However, at the same time, this is a beautiful time of year to really focus on the “larger picture.”
I love to think about the Christmas story! What an incredible and selfless act it was for Jesus to humble himself and choose to come to earth as a vulnerable little baby. But, as we know, the story doesn’t stop there! As a human he had to make the choice, daily, to set aside his own interests and rely on the strength of the Spirit to do the will of the Father.
It is so easy to get caught up in “my world” and lose sight of “the world around me.” My goals and interests really are worthless when directed for my own gain. I must choose, like Jesus did, to do the will of the Father for my life. Knowing that He has my best interest in mind I can have confidence that as I seek His direction, He will bring to fullness my role in the body of Christ. He knows the desires of my heart, and as I seek His face I find that “my world” and “the world around” me collide in the most amazing and powerful way. That is what this life is all about! Enjoying it and seeing lives changed for His glory.
It all comes down to my choice. I can choose to focus solely on my own goals and plans or I can seek His plan and enjoy my heart’s desires truly be fulfilled.
I look forward to sharing with you our family updates throughout this next year as we strive to make a difference in “the world around us.”
May your family experience joy and peace this Christmas and throughout the New Year!
Merry Christmas,
Jennifer
